Southeast Asia Travel Insurance Guides
Travel insurance is something you hope you'll never have to use, but it's the only thing standing between a minor trip disruption and a financial disaster. Instead of just picking the cheapest policy, focus on the actual risks of your route—from scooter accidents in Thailand to medical costs in Singapore.

Plan before you book
What should your policy cover?
We currently offer guidance for Thailand and Singapore, covering everything from hospital standards to common activity exclusions. Don't insure for a generic 'region'; insure for the specific cities, transport modes, and adventures on your actual itinerary.
Start with the expensive failure
Before you start comparing small benefits like delayed baggage or missed connections, look at the costs that could actually break your trip: emergency medical treatment and an assisted return home. A useful policy for Southeast Asia covers the high-stakes failures that would force you to change your plans in a heartbeat, with an excess you can actually afford to pay on the spot.
Be honest about your medical history and the total cost of your non-refundable bookings. A policy with a high headline limit is worthless if the fine print excludes the one thing you actually need help with.
One policy must cover every stop
Check the geographic definitions and activity limits for your whole route. A weekend in Singapore has very different risks than a two-week Thailand itinerary involving island ferries, scuba diving, or renting a scooter. Just because a policy says ‘Asia’ doesn’t mean it covers every country or every activity you have planned.
If you change your route after you’ve already bought a policy, don’t just assume you’re still covered. Ask the insurer directly, and make sure you have the full policy wording and emergency contact numbers saved offline—you won’t want to be searching for them when your phone has no signal.
Use destination guides as context
Our country-specific guides explain the healthcare context and activity risks you’ll actually face. They aren’t a shortcut to picking an insurer, but they will tell you what to look for in the fine print. Regulation and claims procedures vary depending on where you live, so always read the policy document before you pay.
For any destination we haven’t covered yet, you must confirm the medical assistance limits and activity exclusions directly with your insurer. Don’t leave it until you’re already at the border to find out you’re uninsured.
