King Power Mahanakhon Guide: SkyWalk Tickets, Glass Tray Rules & Sunset Timing

King Power Mahanakhon is worth considering when the high city view and Glass Tray are the reason for your outing. The glass floor sits 310 meters above the street, with The Peak reaching 314 meters. It is an exposed observation experience: heat, haze, rain and the queue for photographs matter as much as the headline height.

Choose a daytime ticket for a simpler visit, or a sunset entry when changing light matters enough to justify the extra cost and waiting. Keep the afternoon nearby in Silom. Crossing Bangkok immediately before a timed admission creates a preventable problem, particularly when a downpour slows the roads.

SkyWalk opening hours and ticket deadlines

The operator’s current visitor page lists 10:00–midnight, with last access at 23:00. These are the SkyWalk’s published operating hours. They do not extend the admission deadline printed on a discounted daytime or sunset voucher.

The Klook and KKday packages checked on 7 September 2026 require daytime admission/redemption by 15:30, or sunset admission/redemption by 18:30. Klook’s page-level 21:00 closing time also appears alongside SkyVerse products; use the named SkyWalk package, not the listing header, to plan your arrival.

For a night-only visit, buy an option whose stated entry time covers that visit. Do not take an unused sunset voucher to the door at 22:00. The venue’s date-and-time ticket condition still applies even while the building is open. A rooftop restaurant reservation is also a separate purchase; do not count it as observatory admission unless that inclusion is explicit.

KKday describes its daytime ticket as one entry with permission to remain inside into the evening. That is different from leaving for lunch and returning: ordinary re-entry is excluded by the operator’s terms. If you want to spend a long time upstairs, eat beforehand and leave enough flexibility for a change in weather.

Mahanakhon SkyWalk ticket prices and admission options

The operator publishes adult reference prices of 1,000 THB for 10:00–15:30 and 1,200 THB for 15:30–19:00. Those direct-sale tier boundaries differ from the reseller package names above. Compare a dated product with its own entry window, rather than combining a direct price with another seller’s conditions.

The official page also displays reduced fares of 500/600 THB, but its language versions describe child eligibility differently. Before budgeting for a child ticket, enter each traveler’s actual age in the selected booking option and compare the resulting family total. Adult reference prices exclude separately priced extras; online prices depend on the option you choose.

Compare the same date, age group, entry window and inclusions in one currency. A cheap SkyVerse-only option is not a cheap rooftop ticket. A meal coupon also has limited value if its participating outlet does not fit your plans. Choose the observation experience first and add extras you will actually use.

Klook says electronic vouchers can be used for direct entry; do not assume a compulsory paper-ticket exchange for every booking. KKday instructs guests to present the e-voucher onsite, bring passport or ID, and enter together as a group. Follow the voucher you purchase and keep it available offline. Online payment does not remove security screening or lift queues.

Children: admission supervision and ticket pricing are separate

The operator’s safety policy requires children aged 12 or younger to have a guardian aged at least 20. Apply that venue rule even though KKday’s free-child paragraph mentions an adult aged 18. A reseller’s shorter description does not override the attraction’s own entry conditions.

KKday lists children under three as free. For paid child categories, use the exact age selector on the chosen package and bring age identification. This avoids treating the operator’s inconsistent translated discount labels as an admission rule. A child’s discounted fare and the age of the accompanying guardian answer different questions.

I-Tilt is a separate activity with its own safety eligibility. A family able to enter the observation deck should not assume everyone can join that activity. Unless the extra experience is central to your visit, the simpler SkyWalk choice leaves fewer restrictions to coordinate.

Glass Tray rules and photographs

The attraction’s visitor guidance confirms two essential rules: wear the supplied shoe covers and keep phones, cameras and other loose items off the glass. Photographs of someone on the tray must be taken from the designated photo area. The restriction concerns what you carry onto the glass, not a general ban on holiday photographs throughout the attraction.

For a pair, decide who goes first and who keeps the phone. Follow the staff’s directions about belongings and the permitted photography position, take the photographs, then swap. Avoid unpacking several bags at the edge of the queue. A small, organized bag is easier to manage than loose sunglasses, coins and multiple cameras.

Solo visitors can ask staff where assistance is available or ask another visitor for a photograph, without assuming a staff photography service is included. Keep control of your device and avoid handing it to someone who is leaving the area. Buying a digital souvenir photograph is a separate choice from using your own phone from the permitted position.

There is no need to force yourself or a child onto the glass to make the ticket worthwhile. Start with the surrounding view, watch how the platform works and decide after that. The indoor panorama and outdoor observation areas are substantial parts of the visit. If the height feels unpleasant, step away from the edge and give yourself time.

The visitor route through the tower

The visit moves through a ground-floor entrance, the indoor observation level, a mezzanine transfer and the rooftop. Knowing those stages helps you avoid spending your best light sorting out a voucher or looking for the next lift.

Lobby and security

Reach the first-floor lobby with your booking accessible and your group together. Present the appropriate voucher, complete the security check and follow the signs to the elevator boarding area. Allow more time if someone needs assistance or you must resolve an age-category question at the desk.

The official visitor guide describes a video-themed lift reaching the 74th floor in less than 50 seconds. That is the lift ride, not the time from arriving at BTS Chong Nonsi to reaching the view. Ticket checks, screening and waiting can take considerably longer than the ascent itself.

Indoor view and rooftop transfer

The 74th floor has an indoor panorama with interactive landmark displays. It is a useful place to orient yourself before going outside: find the river’s bends, identify the direction of your hotel and compare the compact-looking skyline with the journeys you have made at street level.

The 75th floor is the mezzanine and glass-elevator boarding level for the rooftop. Follow the current circulation signs, particularly when staff are managing a busy queue. Do not plan on a specific lift or staircase always being the quickest way through.

The 78th-floor outdoor area contains the Glass Tray at 310 meters and The Peak at 314 meters. Those heights are often confused in ticket listings. Treat the two as separate parts of the same observation visit, and check the outdoor status before joining a long queue if the weather is turning.

Daytime, sunset or after dark?

For sunset, check the date’s sunset time and work backward from it. Allow 45–60 minutes before the light you want as a planning buffer, while still meeting the package’s admission cutoff. Treat this as a planning estimate: queues vary, and a group that moves slowly will need more time.

Cloud cover can produce interesting light without a visible sun, while clear weather does not guarantee a sharp distant skyline. Choose the visit for the broad experience rather than one exact photograph. A prepaid dinner reservation immediately afterward adds pressure if the exit queue builds.

For a daytime visit, take breaks in the indoor area and avoid arriving already exhausted from a long outdoor walk. For an evening visit, have a meal nearby first if it fits your admission time. Hunger makes a photography queue less appealing, especially for children.

Rain, rooftop closure and re-entry

The operator’s safety policy says rain or storms can close the outdoor deck, including the Glass Tray and The Peak. The venue can also change operations for safety or capacity. A ticket buys the stated admission, not guaranteed visibility or a guaranteed sunset.

KKday’s current product notice describes a physical re-entry ticket issued at the counter when rain closes the rooftop, with no cash refund for that situation. Obtain that document before leaving and read the validity printed on it. This is a specific weather remedy, separate from the normal rule against leaving and returning on an ordinary ticket.

A seller’s cancellation deadline is another separate rule. For example, the displayed Klook standard package’s advance-cancellation window does not establish a refund after you arrive and encounter rain. Check the weather before the cancellation deadline where possible, and keep enough flexibility to choose another indoor activity if the rooftop is your sole reason for visiting.

What to bring, clothing and luggage

Wear a shirt and shoes, as required by the operator, and choose comfortable footwear for standing and moving between levels. Shoe covers are still required for the glass. Pack lightly and keep the phone, ticket and ID easy to reach.

The published safety rules exclude oversized luggage and non-carry-on bags or strollers from the attraction; Guest Services is the stated place to check these before entry. For an airport-transfer day, storing suitcases at your hotel is the less cumbersome plan. If you need onsite storage, ask Guest Services about bag-size limits, fees and availability before bringing your luggage.

Outside food and drinks are prohibited. Tripods and monopods are listed as restricted, and professional photographic equipment needs prior approval. Selfie-stick use is restricted beside the low rooftop glass panels. Smoking and vaping are not permitted. These practical limits are reasons to carry a simple camera setup rather than treating the rooftop as a full equipment shoot.

If you use mobility equipment or need help with the transfer between levels, describe the equipment and assistance required to Guest Services when organizing the visit. A lift in the building alone does not establish that every viewing position will work equally well for every visitor.

Getting to Mahanakhon without missing your slot

Use BTS Chong Nonsi, Exit 3, the connection identified by the operator. Follow the Mahanakhon signs toward the lobby; the station exit is the start of the final approach, not the ticket checkpoint itself.

From Siam, take the Silom Line toward Bang Wa. Chong Nonsi follows Ratchadamri and Sala Daeng. From the MRT Blue Line, change from Si Lom to BTS Sala Daeng, then ride one stop to Chong Nonsi. Rail transfers require walking and separate ticket arrangements, so do not budget only the in-train minutes.

A taxi can be convenient from a nearby hotel, but leave a larger buffer during the evening rush or heavy rain. For sunset, the train’s predictable route is usually easier to plan around than a car crossing central Bangkok. Save the destination as King Power Mahanakhon, rather than an unrelated King Power retail location.

Food, rooftop bars and alternatives

Mahanakhon CUBE beside the tower offers dining options, including Mahanakhon Eatery. It is a practical place to organize a meal separately from the observation ticket. If a package has a food coupon, match the outlet and redemption window to when you actually want to eat.

A rooftop drink is a different decision from the Glass Tray. Observation access does not automatically include a drink, a reserved table or dinner. Likewise, do not assume a restaurant booking includes SkyWalk access. Compare explicit inclusions and the complete bill before using a dining package as an alternative to a ticket.

Choose Mahanakhon when the elevated panorama and glass-floor experience matter most.
